12 automatic silicone fingers, interactive object, group work
Project management: Jan Merlin Marski
12 clicking fingers touch sensitive user interfaces,
mostly in the form of multi-touch surfaces,
menu fields, mouse buttons, control elements or
keyboards. Hands and fingers follow standardised
movement patterns, gestures: click distances,
sequences, gestures and intensities are always
the same – only the results of the actions differ.
In this installation, 12 detailed casts of an index
finger, centrally controlled by a micro-controller,
each press a button in a sober monotonous manner,
triggering unknown reactions. What happens?
At the same time, the work is a critical commentary
on the fast pace of our time, an expectation
of on-demand and instant gratification.
