Restlight video recordings from the Paris Metro. Images of faces and machines dissolve in their electronic image structure. A video about the machine-like predefined visual mechanisms and events in the metro that take us into the world of daydreams.
Angela Melitopoulos has also referred to the work as a reading of Walter Benjamin on Baudelaire’s poem “A une passante”, which reflects on the perceptual moments of the modern city. The video reveals that we no longer stroll in the world of the Benjaminian display of goods, but move in functionalised and virtual, medial spaces of vision.
